George & Walt’s was established in 1931 during prohibition as Treub’s Café.  It’s location was just a short walk down the street to where the current Rockridge Bart Station stands.  After prohibition ended, Father and Son-in-Law expanded the café to include a bar in their new location. The government was planning a mass transit train and wanted the plot of land that was Treub’s Café.  In 1946 George & Walt’s was born and has been a family owned and operated Pub ever since. We are located in the quaint,north Oakland neighborhood, Rockridge on College Avenue.  As times change, so did we, removing our kitchen in the mid-80’s and creating the neighborhood sports bar that we are today.  We have HDTV’s for all you sport viewing pleasures and offer daily specials.  We’ve been proud to serve the community for 80 years and hope to be around that much longer.
